“Faith of Our Fathers: The Role of Silence in the Church Fathers”

Given by: Father Patrick Hyde, OP

December 2, 2017
Fr. Patrick Hyde grew up in St. Louis and is the second of six children. After college, he taught middle school English and theology for one year on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, at a school founded by St. Katharine Drexel. While teaching, Fr. Patrick sensed God was calling him to religious life and a move back to the Midwest. He entered the Dominican novitiate in 2009, professed first vows in 2010, and was ordained a priest on May 14, 2016.

As those called to share the Good News, a love of silence and comfort with it is essential to building up our faith in the midst of trials. Christ desires to come daily into our hearts and lives. The Church Fathers teach us how to improve our evangelical efforts, open our hearts to Christ, and deepen our love of God through prayer. Join us on this special day of reflection, and Fr. Hyde will help you prepare for a fruitful Advent and Christmas.
