“My dear child, there is to be a chapel erected upon the hill. It is to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It will be a place where my children can meditate on the passion and death of my Son.”

Chapel of the Resurrection and Glorification of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

IMG 2235The octagonal-shaped Chapel was dedicated on October 18, 1997. Constructed mainly from the sandstone found on the property, the earthquake resistant building has a full basement. The copper roof provides a lifetime protection from the elements.

The Chapel can comfortably seat 300. Stairways from either side of the sanctuary lead up to the balcony where additional seating is provided. The Crucifix above the tabernacle was imported from Italy, as were the beautiful Stations of the Cross. The two confessionals in the back serve as "cry rooms" during the services.

IMG 2435Many of the furnishings for the Chapel were anonymous donations or given in memory of loved ones, and most of the labor was done by volunteers.

A framed picture hanging in the Chapel shows a diagram of a church on Mt. Gerazim in old Palestine which was built around 484 a.d. This church was dedicated to the Mother of God right after the Council of Ephesus when Mary was declared the Mother of God. This church is within inches of being the same size and shape as this Chapel.

With the permission of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the Chapel at all times.
